Once Upon a Time Dance

Come and join me this October for a night of fun and celebration as our community gathers to honor individuals who are living with special needs, their families, and caregivers. The Once Upon a Time Dance will take place on Saturday, October 7th, at Westgate Church, Saratoga from 5:30 to 8:30 PM.

This is a free event for the special needs community with dinner, dance, karaoke, crafts and more. Parents and guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero, villain, princess, or storybook character. There will be a complementary event for parents held in the Westgate theater with dinner, a raffle, and a presentation focused on connecting parents and caregivers to resources and individuals who are actively supporting the special needs community. We will also have a livestream of the dance so you can watch everyone having fun at the same time.

The Once Upon a Time Dance was made possible by the family at Westgate Church, Young Life Capernaum, and Jonni & Friends. This night is one of many events that is supported by Beautiful Day’s annual service project.

My role in this project is leading our guest registration, while helping with the event promotion. If you are interested in attending the dance, you can find a link to the dance registration form here.

I have been blessed to work with a team of volunteers who have been role models to me throughout the planning process of this event. Our team has dedicated a large amount of our personal time and resources to making this event a success. Together, we have successfully connected with our community and received more help and generosity than ever expected.

Planning this dance has been meaningful to me personally. I have watched so many people step up and support this event. When I came to the first Beautiful Day volunteer meeting, I had no idea the scale this celebration would reach. Through this project have been introduced to many community leaders who love, support, and encourage one another. I have learned more on a professional communications level and how to be a better ally to my friends and community.

If you are interested in joining our team to volunteer on the night of the dance, our volunteer registration will be launched on September 22nd through Westgate Church. I hope to see you there!
